The Bureau of Labor Statistics states the projected percent change in employment for respiratory therapists through 2028 is 12%. The expanding role of respiratory therapists and the aging population leads to an increased demand for respiratory care services and treatments. A bachelor's degree prepares the respiratory therapist for careers in management, education, and research, and to move toward advanced practice options such as the advanced practice respiratory therapist or physician assistant.
