About the Program

International trade and investment are critical to the Canadian economy. As a result, Canadian businesses are in need of people who can manage international projects that take place across time zones, languages, cultures and currencies. For those looking for a career in global business enterprises, this program is well suited for you.
The first year of the program will provide you with a broad knowledge base in the four major areas of global business - Accounting and Finance, Marketing and Sales, Supply Chain and Operations, and Human Resources. Furthering your knowledge and skills, you will build your management and leadership capacity in the second year through a variety of case studies and interactive learning opportunities you will develop skills needed to make strategic international business decisions.
As part of Conestoga's commitment to innovative learning strategies this program is an eText and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) a laptop is included in your program supply fees. The laptop initiative enables you to have current and relevant resources, and an interactive learning experience. You will be able to access course materials, participate in collaborative learning environments and build the technological skills needed in today's workforce. As a graduate, you will acquire specialized knowledge and skills in international business allowing you to carry out international business functions in today's global marketplace. Upon graduation you will have the skills and education you need to apply for the FITT Diploma from the Forum of International Trade Training, and the CIM designation from the Canadian Institute of Management. You will be-well positioned to be successful in entry-level and junior management positions in all areas of international business.

Program Outcomes

• Collect, process and interpret data used to support and inform the implementation of global business projects.

• Conduct global business in compliance with relevant national and international law, legislation, policies, and regulations

• Use project management tools to assess the contribution of individuals and diverse teams in relation to their ability to collaborate and complete projects within time and scope

• Analyze the expected implications of potential business decisions on profitability, efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction to recommend optimal solutions for improving a business.

• Establish and manage relationships with a diversity of stakeholders using leadership skills to support the achievement of global business goals

• Apply the principles of business ethics, corporate social responsibility, and sustainability to global business decisions and operations in support of improving the triple bottom line

• Critically assess a business situation to identify domestic and international opportunities

• Develop, implement and evaluate strategies for personal professional development to enhance work performance and skills

• Apply information technology to enhance work performance skills to support global business operations

• Communicate effectively in domestic and international settings to ensure business is conducted in culturally appropriate manner

• Monitor relevant trends, emerging technologies, and local and global economic, political, and environmental issues to enhance business performance and guide management decisions.
