Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

Step 1 – Submit an Application for Admission

Freshman applicants have two ways to apply:

1)      NSU Shark Select International Application, or

2)      The Common Application

 Step 2 – Submit Secondary School/Post-Secondary Credentials

You will need to send original or certified copies of your home country’s credentials as part of your application. You must also submit a copy of any terminating or qualifying examination results or certificates if applicable.

Students who have earned CXC or O-level certificates, HSC, BGCSE and CAPE must provide five passing scores in academic subjects and proof of secondary school completion.

All documents written in a foreign language must be accompanied by a notarized/certified English translation. Please note that both documents are required—the original in your first language and the English translation.

Please see “Examinations”  for possible college credit for certain examinations.

  • For students with Post-Secondary Credentials (Transfer Students)

If your university course work was completed outside of the United States, you must have your transcript evaluated by a NACES accredited organization. A list of these organizations can be found at http://naces.org/members.html.  Please ensure the degree and course equivalencies along with the grade point average (GPA) are included in the evaluation.

Step 3 – Submit Proof of English Language Proficiency

We require proof of English proficiency from ALL student unless they are from these countries – Commonwealth Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand. Exceptions can be made with Skype interviews.

Students for whom their high school education was NOT at an English speaking institution or for whom English is NOT their native language, must be able to demonstrate adequate English skills by submitting one of the following:

  • Proof of graduation from a U.S. regionally-accredited high school.

Career Opportunity

According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, nurse employers value graduates of accelerated nursing programs because of the layers of skills and education these graduates bring to the workplace. An accelerated B.S.N. program builds upon the expertise you’ve already learned in your previous bachelor’s program, so that when you’re ready to enter the workforce, you’ve got even more to offer your employer. Additionally, studies have shown that bachelor’s-prepared R.N.’s have better health outcomes than those patients cared for by associate degree-prepared nurses.
