Step 1 – Submit an Application for Admission
Freshman applicants have two ways to apply:
1) NSU Shark Select International Application, or
2) The Common Application
Step 2 – Submit Secondary School/Post-Secondary Credentials
You will need to send original or certified copies of your home country’s credentials as part of your application. You must also submit a copy of any terminating or qualifying examination results or certificates if applicable.
Students who have earned CXC or O-level certificates, HSC, BGCSE and CAPE must provide five passing scores in academic subjects and proof of secondary school completion.
All documents written in a foreign language must be accompanied by a notarized/certified English translation. Please note that both documents are required—the original in your first language and the English translation.

For students with Post-Secondary Credentials (Transfer Students)
If your university course work was completed outside of the United States, you must have your transcript evaluated by a NACES accredited organization. A list of these organizations can be found at http://naces.org/members.html. Please ensure the degree and course equivalencies along with the grade point average (GPA) are included in the evaluation.
Step 3 – Submit Proof of English Language Proficiency
We require proof of English proficiency from ALL student unless they are from these countries – Commonwealth Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand. Exceptions can be made with Skype interviews.
Students for whom their high school education was NOT at an English speaking institution or for whom English is NOT their native language, must be able to demonstrate adequate English skills by submitting one of the following:
Proof of graduation from a U.S. regionally-accredited high school.
College transcript with one "English Composition One" course at a U.S. regionally-accredited college with a grade of C or better.
Proof of English language proficiency with a passing score on one of the following:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 79 on the Internet-based test
International English Language Testing System (IELTS*): 6.0 or higher on the test module
Duolingo Test of English: 105 or higher
Pearson Test of English-Academic (PTE Academic): Overall score of 54 or higher
iTep Academic (International Test of English Proficiency): Overall score of 3.9 or higher
Passing Level 9 from TALK International
Completion and passing of ELS Level 112 Intensive Program English for Academic Purposes
SAT verbal scores of 520 or above, or ACT English score of 20
