Course Information

Policing is an honourable and challenging profession. It requires a dynamic and diverse set of technical, personal and investigative skills. If "Deeds Not Words" is a mantra you can get behind, the Fanshawe Advanced Police Studies program will prepare you for an honourable career in policing.

But first, you need a recruitment advantage to succeed in the competitive and modern policing world. Skills that put you in the upper percentile of qualified policing candidates. Enhance your recruitment potential by building oral, written, and investigative skills, learning holistic approaches to resolving conflict. Experience the ins and outs of social services referral, court prosecution and alternative dispute resolution, and refine your ability to analyze and make appropriate decisions in complex situations. The modern police force needs modern candidates, armed with a diverse knowledge base and socially conscious.

As well, your new skills will be tested by two in-the-field Practicums whose learning environments will reflect the standards of the real Police Service. Upon completion, you’ll have gained first-hand experience of the role of a police officer, under authentic conditions.
