Course Information

Biology is the study of all living things, from a microscopic organism to the largest marine creature. With a biology degree from ACU, you’ll have the rigorous preparation to pursue advanced degrees and rewarding careers in microbiology, nutrition, genetics or a number of other exciting fields. But even more importantly, you’ll learn how science and faith intersect from Christian scholars who are experts in both.

Bachelor of Science in Biology

The B.S. in biology program is a rigorous path that prepares you for a variety of careers through six tracks – Cellular/Molecular Biology, General Biology, Health Professions, Organismal Biology, Pre-Veterinary Medicine and Wildlife Biology. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in research projects and meet specialized requirements to prepare you for graduate or professional school or an immediate career in the field.

Bachelor of Arts in Biology

The B.A. in biology program is tailored for students who are pursuing careers as physician’s assistants. You’ll take the required prerequisite courses for P.A. school and gain hands-on experience through the shadowing of healthcare professionals and service to the community as medical scribes and healthcare assistants.

Bachelor of Science in Biology-Teaching

The Biology-Teaching Bachelor of Science program offers two tracks (Composite Sciences and Life Sciences) for teaching at the K-12 level. You’ll receive solid backgrounds in pedagogy through the Teacher Education Program and science through the biology department. By serving as a biology lab teaching assistant the semester before you begin your student teaching, you’ll have an opportunity to pair your skills as a teacher with your knowledge as in biology in a real-world setting.
