Biotechnology combines applied sciences such as bioprocess engineering with the foundation of basic sciences such as biology, microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, and biochemistry. Major fields of study include genome-applied precision medicine, gene editing technology, animal cloning and stem cells, development of new biomaterials with new functions, production of biopharmaceuticals for the treatment of intractable diseases, and the production of artificial enzymes for mass production of desired substances. Examples are the production of useful substances through the mass culture of animal and plant cells, the development of artificial organs, the development of biosensors and bioreactors, and the development of new genetic engineering to solve food problems.

Biotechnology has comprehensive academic characteristics that combine basic science and applied science, so the career of graduates is very broad and the employment rate is very high. In fact, most of the graduates in this department are entering biotechnology companies such as food and fermentation, as well as medical companies such as pharmaceutical companies and fertility clinics, animal cloning and stem cell research institutes, and biological process engineers. In the future, the range of activities will be further expanded and expected to be active in many advanced biotechnology fields, such as biomedical engineers who are responsible for developing artificial organs and genetic engineers who are responsible for developing new species of biological resources.
