Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses: 

    • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including these required courses:

    • Grade 12 English (ENG4U or equivalent) minimum 65 per cent

    • Grade 12 U Biology (SBI4U or equivalent)

    • Four additional Grade 12 U or M courses in addition to those listed above

    • Overall minimum grade point average (GPA) 65 per cent

    • The following course is strongly recommended as preparation for this program: Grade 12 C, M or U Mathematics or equivalent

English requirements 

  • For any program level, a minimum of three years of full-time study at the secondary school level in an English language school system in a country where English is considered the primary language, or the primary language of instruction and evaluation is English, with acceptable grades in all English courses. 

  • For any program level, a minimum of  two full years of successful study in an accredited university degree program or two full years of successful study in an accredited college diploma program in a country OR in a postsecondary institution where English is the primary language of instruction.

  • Minimum TOEFL Scores: 560 for paper-based test OR84 (21L, 21W, 21S, 21R) for internet-based test

  • Minimum IELTS Scores: Overall 6.5 AND No band below 6.0

  • Minimum MELAB Score: 78

  • Minimum EAP Score: Successful completion of all EAP courses with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 75% in Level 8

  • Minimum PTE Score: 58 - 60

  • Minimum CAEL Score: Overall band score of 60 and Writing of 60

  • Minimum FCE/CAE/CPE Score: Cambridge (FCE/CAE/CPE) 180 (with no single test score below 169)

  • Duolingo Language Test Scores: Between 115-120​

Course Information

Humber’s Bachelor of Health Sciences – Workplace Health and Wellness degree program is a unique honours program, the first of its kind in Canada. You will explore various specialized areas including the most current developments in evidence-informed, interprofessional practice within a business-oriented framework.

This program is multi-disciplinary in nature, drawing from the fields of leadership; mental, physical, and psychological health; business and communication; and knowledge translation. All combined, students acquire the competencies to deliver proactive, effective workplace health and wellness programs within organizational settings. Together, these programs will promote employee health, workplace culture, employee engagement and retention.

Principles of equity, effective change management, diversity, ethical and legal practices, and knowledge translation are the foundation of your learning.

A team approach to learning collaboratively is key and is emphasized in the classroom. 

You will participate in one mandatory paid or unpaid work placement to gain 14 weeks of full-time professional work experience. The placement will occur in diverse settings such as for-profit or not-for-profit enterprises, health and wellness consulting firms, governmental or educational institutions, or other health and wellness businesses.

The experience will enhance the theoretical learning in the program and you will gain the hands-on skills required to successfully develop, evaluate and implement a workplace health and wellness initiative.

Graduates will be competitive candidates for health and wellness positions in an array of workplaces. Possible employment opportunities include working as an entrepreneur in the workplace health and wellness industry or working as a member of a health and wellness team within privately funded (i.e., corporate wellness programs) and publicly funded programs (i.e., public health).
