Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements

  • These prerequisite courses ensure the students have adequate knowledge to be successful in the subsequent course. When registering for a course, the student must submit a proof of prerequisite. Submit the most updated transcript or a final report card with the prerequisite on it.

Course Information

This course enables students to broaden their understanding of relationships and extend their problem-solving and algebraic skills through investigation, the effective use of technology, and abstract reasoning. Students will explore quadratic relations and their applications; solve and apply linear systems; verify properties of geometric figures using analytic geometry; and investigate the trigonometry of right and acute triangles. Students will reason mathematically and communicate their thinking as they solve multi-step problems.

COURSE DETAILS

Unit 1: Linear Systems

  • Students will explore and determine the characteristics of lines and their corresponding equations through the use of spreadsheets, graphing technology, and paper and pencil.

Unit 2: Analytical Geometry

  • Students will use concrete materials, diagrams, drawings and dynamic geometric software to investigate the properties of three dimensional objects, optimal measurements and geometric relationships of two dimensional figures.

Unit 3: Quadratic Functions

  • Students will learn characteristics of quadratic equations and its graph to analyse and solve problems using graphs, and algebra.

Unit 4: Trigonometry

  • Students will learn Trigonometry ratios to solve missing values in a triangle and compare two or more triangles with each other to determine their characteristics.
