Entry requirements:

English requirements:

  • If English is not your first language or you've received your education in a language other than English, students must produce evidence of their English Language Proficiency:
    • ELTS overall band of 6.5 with no band less than 6.0
    • TOEFL iBT 88
    • CAEL 70, no sub-test band score less than 60
    • PTE Academic 58
    • Conestoga English Language Test (CELT) Band 6

Other requirements:

  • A two- or three-year diploma or a degree from a recognized college or university OR equivalent work experience in a related field
  • Applicants not meeting the credential requirement must submit a resume including references outlining related work experience.
  • This program is designed for the mature learner. Students will be required to carry out independent research and learning throughout the program
  • Students are expected to have a working knowledge of personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software and the internet. Students will be required to perform computer work for course work and projects outside of class. Keyboarding skills are required.

About the Program

This advanced-level graduate certificate program provides individuals with the knowledge and techniques to improve the delivery and quality of products and services. The material that is taught in this program can be applied within any area of an organization. The focus of this program is on the achievement of performance excellence through the use of modern quality improvement methods. The program develops the skills required to perform process quality roles in a broad range of organizations and sectors.
The program content aligns favourably with selected American Society of Quality's (ASQ) Bodies of Knowledge. This program is non-industry specific as it provides the proficiencies demanded by organizations in today's market place.

Program Outcomes

  • Communicate technical information to management, engineering-manufacturing and sales marketing groups, through the use of relevant language, graphics and computer skills.

  • Create value for an enterprise by identifying and supporting the role of quality as a strategic element.

  • Identify issues, opportunities, and performance metrics using current and relevant tools such as Value Stream mapping and process mapping.

  • Apply knowledge, skills, and practical procedures of process quality measurement and improvement to transactional and business processes, as well as manufacturing processes and material.

  • Apply analytical reliability methods to support the design, engineering, and management of reliability activities throughout the life cycle of a product.

  • Apply various statistical tools such as measurement system analysis, process capability and design of experiments to baseline performance and effect process improvement.

  • Apply the principles of project management using relevant computer software.

  • Analyze and present data using advanced computer applications and statistical software

  • Identify, select, and implement relevant techniques for the establishment and maintenance of optimal customer/supplier relationships.

  • Undertake root cause analysis to determine the source of potential quality issues and formulate appropriate solutions.

  • Utilize analytical techniques in order to establish and develop efficient and effective delivery of products and services.
