A candidate shall:
Have fulfilled in the last 10 years all the requirements for admission to an AQF Level 7 Bachelors degree or AQF Level 7 or AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma which includes a three-year sequence in Psychology accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council; and
Have achieved an average result of Credit in the 200 and 300/400-level units in Psychology in that degree; and
Have successfully completed the unit PSYC302 or PSYC472 or equivalent.
IELTS(Academic) overall score of at least 6.5 with no sub-band score less than 6.0; or
TOEFL score of at least 91 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component and 20 in listening, speaking and reading; or
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic minimum overall score of 64 with no skill less than 58
The course provides an opportunity for graduates with a three-year accredited sequence in psychology to gain an accredited fourth year in psychology. Under current registration requirements, this will allow them to begin the process of professional registration as a psychologist. The program of study includes components on psychological testing, clinical interviewing and interventions, ethics, research skills and an elective reading unit. Students also complete a supervised research thesis.
Places in the course may be limited and offers restricted to one mode of study in some years.
Students must be able to run SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) on their computer.
After completing this degree, you are eligible for associate membership of the Australian Psychological Society and provisional registration as a psychologist.
