This programme has been designed to offer a focused learning and training experience in Dietetics. The course utilizes the B.Sc. (Hons.) Applied Food and Nutritional Sciences as the basis for this Postgraduate Diploma.
This intensive programme will give the student the training and skills base needed to practice safely and with proficiency.
The programme will provide the student with the skills set which will be developed gradually throughout the one year full-time course. The course will rely heavily on guided experiential learning in a Hospital setting. The ultimate deliverable is the opportunity to practice lawfully, safely and effectively embark on a career which provides the public with potential for improved quality of life and better health status.
The programme of studies extends over one year of full-time studies. Lectures and clinical placements are held in during the day.
Placements may be carried out in sites where there will be exposure to the Maltese language. The Department is therefore offering the opportunity for international students to register for two extra study-units, MAL0011 and MAL0012, in their first year of studies. Opportunities in Dietetics and related careers will be available to the graduate. The Postgraduate Diploma may also provide opportunities for further training at other postgraduate levels to specialise in particular areas of Dietetics.
