Guaranteed Entrance Scholarships

You will automatically be considered for a Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship when you apply for admission. These scholarships recognize your academic achievements and are awarded based on your admission average.

Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships

Best and Brightest Entrance Scholarships are uSask’s highest valued, renewable entrance scholarships and are awarded based on academics, leadership and contributions to school and community life.

• George and Marsha Ivany President’s First & Best Scholarships: $40,000 ($10,000/year over four years)
• Chancellors’ Scholarships: $30,000 ($7,500/year over four years)
• U of S Entrance Scholarships: $24,000 ($6,000/year over four years)
• Edwards Undergraduate Scholarships: $24,000 ($6,000/year over four years)
• College of Agriculture and Bioresources Renewable Entrance Scholarships: $12,000 ($3,000/year over four years)

Competitive Entrance Awards

Competitive Entrance Awards include numerous scholarships and bursaries that can be accessed by many students with diverse experiences. You can be considered based on academic achievement, financial need and/or contributions to school and community life. Some awards recognize particular backgrounds, acknowledge contributions to certain clubs or reward achievement in music and athletics.

International student awards

• University of Saskatchewan International Excellence Awards: $10,000
• International Baccalaureate (IB) Excellence Awards: $20,000
• Canadian Curriculum Schools Awards: $15,000
• Council of International School Awards: $15,000

Transfer awards

Students transferring from another post-secondary institution who apply for admission to the University of Saskatchewan prior to May 1 will be automatically considered for transfer scholarships.

Off-campus awards

Students taking USask classes at one of our off-campus sites can apply for academic awards provided by their local regional college. Many of Saskatchewan's regional colleges award over $50,000 annually to their students.  

On-campus work:

You can only start working in Canada when you start your study program. You can’t work before your studies begin.

You can work as an international student in Canada if your study permit lists a condition that says you’re allowed to work on- or off-campus.

You can work on your school campus, without a work permit, if you:

• are a full-time post-secondary student at a:

• public post-secondary school, such as a college or university, or CEGEP in Quebec
• private college-level school in Quebec that operates under the same rules as public schools, and is at least 50% funded by government grants, or Canadian private school that can legally award degrees under provincial law

• have a valid study permit, and
• have a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Off-campus work:

International students can work off campus without a permit, provided that all of the following statements are true:

• they hold a valid study permit
• they are full-time students enrolled at a designated learning institution (DLI)
• the program in which they are enrolled is a post-secondary academic, vocational or professional training program, or a vocational training program at the secondary level offered in Quebec
• the program of study is at least 6 months in duration and leads to a degree, diploma or certificate

International students can work up to 20 hours per week during their studies and 40 hours per week during vacation. They can earn up to 15 CAD per hour.

Voyageur Place

Located in the heart of the University of Saskatchewan campus, Voyageur Place consists of four residence halls: Athabasca Hall, Saskatchewan Hall, Qu'Appelle Hall and Qu'Appelle Hall Addition.

College Quarter

College Quarter Residence (CQ) is located in the Varsity View community. With 800 bed spaces for single students, CQ offers a unique residence experience in a modern building. CQ consists of fully furnished four bedroom apartments along with a limited number of three bedroom apartments, accessible living spaces, two bedroom apartments and studio apartments as well.

McEown Park & Seager Wheeler Hall

McEown Park is a group of four high-rise buildings located just south of the main campus.These four buildings include Assiniboine Hall and Wollaston Hall (1 and 2 bedroom units for upper year students; max of 2 people per unit), Souris Hall (2 bedroom units for students with children) and Seager Wheeler Hall (6 bedroom units)

Graduate House

Graduate House is the University of Saskatchewan's newest residence, offering housing for graduate students (in post-graduate diploma, masters or Ph.D. programs), students enrolled in professional programs, such as Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary Medicine and students enrolled in their 3rd or 4th year of studies on campus.

Homestay

A homestay family provides a safe, English-speaking environment where you can adapt to Canadian life and improve your English. Statistics prove that your pass rate improves by living with a Homestay family.

• Placement fee: $275 (one time fee)
• Daily fee: $27 per day ($1,971 CAN for the 73 days of a regular 10-week term)
• Service and assistance fee: $152 per term
• Damage deposit: $675 (must be paid with a credit card and is refundable - refund based on inspection during check-out)
