Entry Requirement

English Requirement

Proof of English language proficiency in ONE of the following ways:

  • Minimum standardized test score:

    • IELTS minimum score of 6.5

    • GTEC CBT minimum score of 1210

    • Duolingo English Test minimum score of 105

    • Pearson PTE Academic minimum score of 58

    • TOEFL mimumum score of 81 (internet-based test)

    • SAT minimum score of 500 on the Evidenced Based Reading and Writing Portion of SAT exam

    • Cambridge English Exam - Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) minimum score of 176, CEFR level

  • Submission of a General Certificate of Secondary Education or General Certificate of Education "O" level in English language.

  • Possession of an American associate's or bachelor's degree equivalent from an accredited institution located in a country where English is the native language.

  • Graduation from an accredited high school in a native English-speaking country where the applicant has resided for at least four years.

The School of Accounting enjoys a national reputation for excellence in accounting education and is viewed as a prime recruiting school by accounting employers throughout the mid-Atlantic region. The school offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree and a Master of Science in Accounting (M.S.A.). Most students choose to receive both degrees and thereby satisfy the 150 semester hours of education required in most states to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam.

Several features of the accounting program are distinctive:

Recommended Schedule for Majors

First Two Years

Students planning to major in accounting must be accepted into the College of Business. Admission requirements to the College of Business require completion of 9 lower-level B.B.A. core courses. It is expected that the lower-level B.B.A core curriculum will be completed during the first two years of study along with General Education and elective courses. Students will work with an adviser to develop their schedule of courses for the first two years.

Third and Fourth Years

Students accepted into the College of Business will begin major courses in their junior year. Students will develop an individualized schedule of course work for their junior and senior years during ACTG 302. Introduction to the Profession: Role of Accountants taken in the fall of their junior year.
