Entry Requirement

  • New freshmen applicants must finish secondary school in their home country by the time of enrollment to be eligible for university (comparable to the completion of senior high school in the U.S.).  A student who has previously enrolled in a post-secondary (higher education) institution is required to apply as a transfer student.

  • A student must apply as a transfer student if you have attended a college or university after graduation from secondary school/high school. 

  • Freshmen should meet the minimum requirement of GPA ≥ 2.5 on a U.S. 4.0 scale. Check for specific majors' selective requirements. Students who want a particular program but do not meet the minimum requirements may be considered for the pre-major.

  • Transfer applicants should meet the minimum requirement of GPA ≥ 2.0 on a U.S. 4.0 scale. Check for specific majors' selective requirements. Students who want a particular program but do not meet the minimum requirements may be considered for the pre-major.

English Requirement

All undergraduate applicants must obtain:

  • TOEFL score of 71 iBT, 525 pBT(discontinued as of July 2017), 18 average of Revise PBT, or

  • 6.0 IELTS (We are temporarily accepting the IELTS indicator for fall 2020.), or

  • Duolingo of 100, or

  • PTE Academic score of 48, or

  • MELAB score of 75, or 

  • Completing the ELS level 112 Intensive English Program, or 

  • On SAT, a minimum of 510 Evidence-based reading and writing / ACT, a minimum of 21 in English

Accounting professionals work with organizations large and small across a variety of sectors and industries.  There is a strong demand for general accountants, as well as financial and business analysts and specialized accountants in such areas as payroll, billing and other support functions.  Employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 11 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations.

Other Information

Eastern’s Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting provides introductory and advanced courses in financial and managerial accounting, auditing, taxation and accounting information technology and business solutions. As one of the top accounting programs in Connecticut, Eastern has one of the top CPA Exam pass rates in the state. In addition the Accounting Major and Accounting Minor, graduates can also earn their master’s degree in Accounting with only one additional year of study at Eastern.
