Course Information

If you already have knowledge of computing, and want to build on your studies so far, this course could be for you. We’ll expect you to have completed at least two years of university or higher education study in a related subject.

If you’re looking to boost your chances of employment or promotion by developing your knowledge and skills in computing, we’re here to help. The course gives you the opportunity to work on your problem-solving techniques and build up some transferable skills you can take into the world of work.

We know everyone will have reached a different stage of their studies and proficiency, so we give you the chance to tailor your learning, with an option module system. You can also choose modules that best suit your career choices for the future.

You could cover a range of vital topics like the development of database management systems, internet and intranet sites, build on your object-oriented programming skills, or explore the different technologies that can support the use of information technologies (IT) in organisations. We really want to help you build on your existing knowledge to equip you with the skills you need for your desired career path, for example:

  • A software developer
  • Database administrator
  • Web master
  • Project manager.

During your studies we’ll ask you to undertake an individual project, encouraging you to develop your research and abilities by working on a major assignment. It will push you to work at your best and get under the surface of computing to find talents you didn’t know you had. At the end of the project you will have carried out a major piece of work that demonstrates your capabilities.
