Sheffield Hallam welcomes applications from international school students taking the International Baccalaureate Diploma and those achieving 28 points or more will usually be successful in obtaining an offer of a place on our undergraduate programmes.
If English is not your first language you must have an IELTS score of 6.0 or above with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills or equivalent. If your English language skill is currently below IELTS 6.0 we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English score.

The course is suitable if you don’t meet the entry requirements for our BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering course, or you want extra preparation before starting degree-level study. You share the first year with other engineering, maths and physics foundation year students, then move on to the degree.
You experience and engage in a variety of learning activities as they progress through the course. We have designed a balanced mix of activities to enable knowledge acquisition, ensure understanding and develop you as a professional and enhance your employability.

International Foundation Programme: Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics
1. Course summary
Aimed at international and non-EU students, this foundation course prepares you to progress onto your chosen STEM undergraduate degree. Concentrate on improving your English language, alongside an introduction to technical computing and fundamental engineering principles, as well as strengthening mathematics. You will work in recently-refurbished facilities with opportunities for galleries, collaborative spaces and social learning.
2.Entry requirements
Good high school graduation grades which includes Maths.
You may be required to provide examples of creative work to support your application.
You must be 18 years old when you enrol on the course. September applicants must be 18 years old by 1st September and January applicants by 1st January.
For September entry, an overall IELTS 4.5 is required, with a minimum of 4.0 in all skills.
For January entry, a minimum IELTS 5.0 is needed, with a minimum of 4.5 in all skills
3. Fees
For the three-term programme starting in September the tuition fee in 2020/21 will be £12,310. For the two-term programme starting in January the tuition fee in 2020/21 will be £10,250. On completion of the programme, you are eligible for a £1,000 progression scholarship towards your tuition fees (for the first year of your chosen degree).
This course prepares you for a successful career in aerospace research and development, manufacturing industry, product design, testing, service, maintenance or other commercial engineering enterprises.
