Ontario High School Curriculum

  • Minimum admission range of mid 70s.
  • Competitive admission range of low 80s.
  • English at 60%.
  • Biology at 70%.
  • All prerequisite courses calculated in admission average.

English Requirements

Laurier’s language of instruction is English. If your first language is not English, you must provide evidence of your English proficiency to our Recruitment and Admissions office.

You can:

  • Submit a minimum score on an accepted test of English proficiency (listed below); or

  • Complete the Laurier English and Academic Foundation (LEAF) program.

If you have studied in an English-language school system on a full-time basis for a minimum of three years, you may request an exemption.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component.

  • Paper-based testing: 560 overall.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band.

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL), 70 overall; 60 in each band.

  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE), 59 overall or higher.

  • Cambridge Assessment English (CAE), Overall score of 176.

  • Duolingo English Test, Minimum score of 115.

Course Information

Our Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biology program is intended for those who want to have a role in communicating biology and biological concepts to others.

This program will prepare you for careers such as law, education/teaching, public policy or science journalism.

This is a flexible program that you can combine with other subject areas through minors, options or even as a dual major with another BA program.

We also offer a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology, which provides a firm foundation not only in Biology, but also in Chemistry and Math. The BSc program is ideal for those looking to move on to graduate work in Biology or to professional postgraduate programs in environmental or health sciences.
