Ontario High School Curriculum

  • Minimum admission range of mid 80s.
  • Competitive admission range of high 80s.
  • English at 70%.
  • Advanced Functions at 70%.
  • One of Calculus and Vectors or Data Management at 60%.
  • All required courses calculated in admission average, including English. 

English Requirements

Laurier’s language of instruction is English. If your first language is not English, you must provide evidence of your English proficiency to our Recruitment and Admissions office.

You can:

  • Submit a minimum score on an accepted test of English proficiency (listed below); or

  • Complete the Laurier English and Academic Foundation (LEAF) program.

If you have studied in an English-language school system on a full-time basis for a minimum of three years, you may request an exemption.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component.

  • Paper-based testing: 560 overall.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band.

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL), 70 overall; 60 in each band.

  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE), 59 overall or higher.

  • Cambridge Assessment English (CAE), Overall score of 176.

  • Duolingo English Test, Minimum score of 115.

Course Information

Our Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Accounting program is CPA-accredited and gives a career advantage to students looking to become an accountant. Unlike most programs in accounting, this one prepares you to understand business and government issues in a data-driven economy at the macro level.

Economics courses will provide you with the technical background you’ll need to succeed in today’s marketplace, along with a high-level understanding of how businesses work. Your accounting courses will ensure you are ready to become an accountant, with courses that hone your practical skills.
