Course Information

Biopsychology is the interdisciplinary study of how emotions, personality, and behavior are affected by the brain, nervous system, genetics, and environment. This versatile major will prepare you for careers and graduate training in medicine, biology, health psychology, clinical psychology, nursing, public health, social work, genetic counseling, pharmacology, and beyond.

In small classes, you’ll acquire a solid foundation in biology and psychology and learn about these disciplines’ perspectives on stress, chronic disease, mental health, aging, integrative health, and more. Faculty who are active researchers will get to know you personally, help you identify your career goals, and support you as you prepare to achieve them. They’ll give you the opportunity to participate in original research projects under their guidance in collaborative, hands-on laboratories. You’ll acquire a broad range of research, clinical, and professional skills, from formulating research questions to presenting your ideas for a scientific audience.

You’ll also be encouraged to participate in an off-campus internship in the San Francisco Bay Area, rich with opportunities to gain practical experience in hospitals, nonprofit organizations, and research laboratories. Throughout your studies, your experiences will provide personal and professional growth and embolden you to advocate for yourself and your ideas.
