Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • Entry to the Graduate Diploma requires a bachelor's degree, which does not need to be in the same area of study. If you gained your qualification overseas, this will need to be assessed to ensure it is of an equivalent standard.

English requirements

  • IELTS: Academic with an average score of 6.0, with a minimum of 5.5 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • TOEFL iBT: Total minimum score of 80, with at least 19 in reading, writing and listening 
  • TOEFL PBT: With a minimum score of 550 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5
  • CCEL EAP: Level 2 with a minimum C+ grade
  • CAE or CPE: minimum score of 169 with at least 162 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE with an overall score of 50 and no PTE communicative skills score below 42
  • NZCEL:  Level 4 - Academic endorsement

Course Information

The Graduate Diploma in Arts offers people who hold a bachelor's degree in a major in an unrelated area the opportunity to study arts in-depth, choosing from over 30 subjects.

The GradDipArts is designed for graduates seeking to qualify for entry to postgraduate qualifications in arts, to change career direction, or to extend or upgrade their existing qualification(s).

The GradDipArts requires a total of 120 points of courses. At least 90 points must be from courses at 300-level, and 60 must be within a single subject from the list below.
