Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • Manufacturing Engineering Technician Ontario College Diploma from Fanshawe College

  • OR

  • An equivalent qualification from another institution as judged by the College

  • OR

  • A combination of relevant education and work experience in a related field as judged by the College to be equivalent to the above

English requirements

  • Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in English by one of the following methods:

  • A Grade 12 College Stream or University Stream English credit from an Ontario Secondary School, or equivalent, depending on the program's Admission Requirements

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test with a minimum score of 79 for the Internet-based test (iBT), with test results within the last two years

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic test with an overall score of 6.0 with no score less than 5.5 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years. SDS Program Requirements.  

  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) test with an overall score of 60 with no score less than 50 in any of the four bands, with test results within the last two years

  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) with a minimum score of 53, with test results within the last two years

  • A Cambridge English Test (FCE/CAE/CPE) with an overall score on the Cambridge English Scale of 169 with no language skill less than 162, with test results within the last two years

  • An English Language Evaluation (ELE) at Fanshawe College with a minimum score of 70% in all sections of the test, with test results within the last two years

  • Fanshawe College ESL4/GAP5 students: Minimum grade of 80% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 8, 75% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 9, or 70% in ESL4/GAP5 Level 10

Other requirements

  • Training or experience in any one of the following areas would be a helpful preparation for this program: Physics, Chemistry, Electricity, Electronics, Refrigeration/Air Conditioning, Blueprint Reading, Environmental Science, Computer Programming

If your career ambitions go beyond the status quo, and if you’re interested in the concept of life-long learning, the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program will help you add to your already impressive and specialized skill-set.

In our operations management course, you’ll combine hands-on industrial training with your academic studies, preparing you for management and leadership positions in the manufacturing industry. Refining your people skills is a major focus of the program. You'll also learn how to interpret product design drawings, develop and implement a production process, and apply manufacturing and quality control standards as a certified quality engineer. And, in addition to technical skills, you'll learn business skills such as accounting, production cost estimating, statistical analysis, operations and resource management and customer service in your pursuit of your operations management certification.
