Admission Requirements

International students must have:

  • Qualifications equivalent to an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited four-year undergraduate sequence within the last 10 years (qualifications must be assessed by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) for equivalence and evidence of assessment provided); and
  • Be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a provisional psychologist (which requires you to meet all the requirements for registration).

 

Minimum English Language Requirements
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): Academic IELTS minimum overall band of 7.0 with no individual band below 7 (completed in the past two years), or
Pearson Test of English (PTE): Academic PTE score of 66 (completed in the past two years).

English language competency that meets the requirements outlined in the Psychology Board of Australia ‘English language skills registration standards’.

International students: Please note that as part of the registration requirements for the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) you must meet the AHPRA ‘English language skills registration standards’. These standards require the demonstration of English language competency in one of a number of specified equivalent ways. For more information, read the PBA Registration Standards.

Overseas qualifications must be deemed by ACAP as equivalent to Australian qualifications.

Course Information

You’re ready to make your mark and help change people’s lives for the better. Our Master of Professional Psychology continues your deep understanding of human behaviour, and is the fifth year of the six years' professional training required for general registration as a psychologist in Australia.

You can then complete a one-year Psychology Board of Australia approved internship or the Graduate Diploma of Professional Psychological Practice to have the fifth and sixth years of training required for general registration as a psychologist.

This course is conditionally accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC). The accrediting body may have additional requirements to meet professional accreditation standards. For more information visit apac.au.

Course structure
