Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • Students must have a bachelor's degree with at least a B Grade Point Average in 300-level courses, or equivalent, and be approved by the Dean of Business.

English requirements

  • IELTS: Academic with an average score of 6.5, with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • TOEFL iBT: Total minimum score of 90, with at least 19 in reading, writing and listening. Please note UC only accepts TOEFL iBT scores from a single test date, not MyBest scores.
  • TOEFL PBT: With a minimum score of 575 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5
  • CCEL EAP: Level 2 with a minimum C+ grade
  • CAE or CPE: minimum score of 176 with at least 169 in reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic): PTE with an overall score of 58 and no PTE communicative skills score below 50
  • NZCEL:  Level 5

Course Information

The Postgraduate Certificate in Business is an applied commerce qualification that focuses on developing skills, knowledge, and competencies expected by potential employers from UC Business School | Te Kura Umanga graduates. It provides a pathway qualification into the Postgraduate Diploma in Business, which leads into the Master of Business Management, Master of Professional Accounting, and Master of Financial Management.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Business equips graduates with general knowledge and skills applicable to business, which can then be applied in graduate positions across a wide range of industries. This Certificate provides a qualification with some of the core business skills required by industry.

As part of the Business Taught Masters programme at UC, this qualification enables you to increase your employability by gaining business skills that complement your existing professional or academic background. Candidates with a degree from any discipline may apply and no prior experience in commerce is required.
