Applicants from Vietnam must meet one of the following academic requirements:
Completion of Year 11 of the Vietnamese high school curriculum, or
Completion of Upper Secondary School (Year 12)
Applicants should have a satisfactory academic record.
Higher academic results may be required for accelerated or fast-track options, subject to assessment by UCIC.
Each application will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account academic performance and relevant subjects studied.
Applicants must meet one of the following English language requirements:
IELTS Academic overall score of 5.5, with no band below 5.0, or
An equivalent English qualification accepted by UCIC.
Applicants who do not meet the English language requirement may be required to complete an approved English language programme before progressing to the Foundation Studies programme.
As a Foundation Studies student you will develop your English language and study skills as well as gain an introduction to subjects in your chosen academic field.
UCIC Foundation Studies Certificate will pathway students to the first year of their University of Canterbury undergraduate degree.* Students will study 8 courses over the course of 2 semesters. Courses are carefully selected and will depend on a student’s intended programme of study at UC.
* Each course is worth 15 credits.
