Successful completion of secondary education Year 12 (or equivalent) in your home country is generally required to enter the Diploma in University Studies.
For students from Vietnam, this typically means:
Completion of Vietnam Year 12 (Học sinh tốt nghiệp THPT)
Equivalent international qualification acceptable to UCIC.
Specific academic entry requirements may vary depending on your qualifications. If your qualification is not listed, UCIC admissions can assess your transcripts.
Note: For Engineering programmes, having studied mathematics, physics, and chemistry at high school is strongly recommended, as these are prerequisites for the engineering core units you will study.

If you do not meet the English requirement, you may be required to complete an approved English language programme before commencing the Diploma.
Diploma in Engineering is equivalent to the first year of your undergraduate engineering studies. Upon completion of the programme you will be eligible to progress* to the second year of the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours degree at the University of Canterbury and able to choose from a variety of specialisations.
