To be eligible for the Diploma in University Studies: Science, you must have successfully completed secondary school at a level equivalent to Year 12 or an equivalent international qualification accepted by UCIC.
Academic requirements vary by country and qualification, so specific entry standards depend on your schooling system.
UCIC assesses each application and may ask for official transcripts and documents.
For example, students usually need to have finished Year 12 (or equivalent) in their home country.
You must meet the English language proficiency requirements to study at UCIC:
✔ IELTS Academic overall score of 5.5, with no band below 5.0
—or an equivalent English qualification accepted by the college.
If you do not meet the English requirement, you can complete an approved English language programme first and then enter the Diploma.
Upon successfully completing this Diploma programme, you will be eligible to progress into Year 2 of the Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Canterbury, provided you meet any additional requirements from the university.
Diploma in Science is equivalent to the first year of your undergraduate science studies. Upon completion of the programme, you will be eligible to progress* to the second year of the Bachelor of Science degree and you will be able to choose from a variety of specialisations.
