Course Information

From a Geographical perspective, you will engage in contemporary debates concerning the content of Human Geography, and will explore these debates through ‘field’ experience. Alongside this you will study International Development themes such as economic growth, trade, aid, modernisation and urbanisation, together with detailed development case studies drawn from specific countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Joint Honours programmes are flexible and ideal for you if you want to study diverse subject areas and you can tailor modules around your interests. This course takes an interdisciplinary approach to investigating current development problems and the strategies used to tackle them. You will gain an understanding of the basic concepts, skills and methods of Geographical enquiry and the application of these to themes, issues and debates in the social, cultural, political, economic and natural environments. The programme also explores economic growth, trade, aid, modernisation and urbanisation.
