Grade 12 graduation or equivalent.
English 12 with a B or higher, or
Academic IELTS 6.5 (no band less than 6.0), or
TOEFL iBT 90 (Listening 22, Speaking 23, Reading 22, Writing 23).
Students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to transcribe medical reports, communicate effectively with members of the medical profession, and demonstrate computer skills and keyboarding proficiency. This program is designed to prepare graduates for employment as medical transcriptionists in a variety of health care environments or home-based businesses.
This program emphasizes written communication skills using specialized terminology and transcription relating to reports such as history and physical, consultation, radiology, laboratory, oncology, surgery, pathology, and discharge summaries. Also included in the program is a 3-week practicum, which provides the student with on-the-job experience.

Graduates may find employment as medical transcriptionists in health authorities, hospitals, medical and specialists’ offices, medical faculties in universities, and their own home-based businesses.
