The general stream provides specialisation in information technology activities across a range of digital media technologies. It builds on the knowledge and will equip you with the expertise to manage the IT requirements of any small business.

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technology (ICT) technologies and practices in different organisational contexts. Specialisations are available in Networking, Programming, and Web-Based Technologies. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 5 core units and 15 elective units.

Students have 2 entry options (entry criteria apply):
1. Certificate III in Information, Digital Media and Technology(1 Semester), Certificate IV in Information Technology (2 Semesters) and Diploma of Software Development (2 Semesters), 2.5 years (minimum Year 10 or overseas equivalent.
2. Certificate IV in Information Technology (2 Semesters) and Diploma of Software Development (2 Semesters), 2 years (minimum Year 11 or overseas equivalent)
