Course Information

Come and join New Zealand’s booming hospitality industry! Crown’s Certificate in Food and Beverage will give you the skills to hit the ground running. You will learn practical skills like making coffee and cocktails, gain knowledge about food safety, wine and beer (with an emphasis on New Zealand wines that you will be working with the most). We will also cover the legislation that will be applicable to you in hospitality, and the health and safety aspects that are crucial to working effectively and without injury. You will complete the license controller qualification (LCQ), which enables you to work as a manager in any premise which sells alcohol.
Our tutors have significant experience in the hospitality industry, and are here to help you through your journey in hospitality. Class visits are held to view and experience various hospitality operations – cafes, fine dining restaurants and hotels. Finally, at the end of the year, we will take a class trip to a winery and brewery, where we see for ourselves how beer and wine is made, and have the opportunity to do some tasting.
Job opportunities for graduates are excellent - it is estimated that:
•    The Food Services sector will need almost 6,000 workers to meet job growth and replacement demand between 2017 and 2021
•    Cafes, Bars and Restaurants will need around 28,000 new workers between 2017 and 2020
•    Accommodation sector will require additional 10,000 employees between 2017 and 2021.
