Ontario High School Curriculum

  • Minimum admission range of mid 80s.
  • Competitive admission range of high 80s.
  • English at 70%.
  • Advanced Functions at 70%.
  • One of Calculus and Vectors or Data Management at 60%.
  • All required courses calculated in admission average, including English. 

English Requirements

Laurier’s language of instruction is English. If your first language is not English, you must provide evidence of your English proficiency to our Recruitment and Admissions office.

You can:

  • Submit a minimum score on an accepted test of English proficiency (listed below); or

  • Complete the Laurier English and Academic Foundation (LEAF) program.

If you have studied in an English-language school system on a full-time basis for a minimum of three years, you may request an exemption.

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Internet-based testing (TOEFL iBT): an overall score of 83 or higher with a minimum score of 20 in each component.

  • Paper-based testing: 560 overall.

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), An academic score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum of 6.0 in each band.

  • Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL), 70 overall; 60 in each band.

  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE), 59 overall or higher.

  • Cambridge Assessment English (CAE), Overall score of 176.

  • Duolingo English Test, Minimum score of 115.

Course Information

Our policy-focused Economics program will help you learn about choice, and the impact of choices, in business. From the decisions we make as individuals, families, governments or firms, the field of economics relates to every aspect of our lives and to every aspect of the business environment.

This degree pairs our Economics program with our highly ranked Finance program. You'll graduate with the skills needed to enter the investment banking or finance profession, and have the competitive career advantage of understanding the factors that influence income, wealth and well-being.
