Admission Requirements

Entry requirements

  • 40 credits NCEA Level 1, including 10 literacy credits and 10 numeracy credits
  • Evidence of literacy, numeracy and an ability to study at the appropriate level. This can be through study, work and/or life experience. Literacy and numeracy assessments are available.

English requirements

  • If English is not your first language, we want to make sure that you will be successful in your chosen programme of study.
  • Please provide a result from a test or qualification on the acceptable alternatives English Proficiency Outcomes Chart.

OR

  • If you are a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident, complete an Admission and Enrolment form and Ara will contact you regarding a free assessment.
  • If you are not a New Zealand Citizen or Permanent resident, book an IELTS or other test through the AraExamination Centre or in your home country.
  • IELTS scores used must be taken from a single IELTS Test Report Form and are valid for two years from the date of the test.
  • Overall IELTS requirements 5.5 academic: speaking 5.0, reading 5.0, writing 5.0, listening 5.0.

Course Information

Acquire the skills to help learners prepare for assessments and to conduct assessments in the workplace.

Delivered as a one-day workshop, this course (and the accompanying assignment materials that you take back to your workplace to complete) will enable you to assess candidate performance and prepare candidates for assessment. You'll gain skills in preparing assessment materials, planning and conducting assessments, verifying evidence and completing assessment administration (Unit standard 4098 and 11281).

To undertake this course, you'll need to be working with learners who are completing assessments which you can use for your assignment work. You'll also need an observer in your workplace with expertise and experience in assessment to verify your assignment work.
