The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs. It aims to prepare you for further study in a Deakin College diploma or for entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor degree.
The course comprises of a standard or extended track program. The standard track program consists of eight academic units: four core units and four elective units. The Extended track program has an additional four core units, one of which is chosen from two alternative core units. Various support services focusing on language, literary and numeracy assistance are also available to help you in your studies. Each unit includes four hours of class contact per week. Assessment for all units is continuous and includes tests, assignments and case study analysis. Most units have a final two hour examination. To graduate from the Deakin College Foundation Program, you must complete and pass all eight units in the standard program or 12 units in the extended program.
After successfully completing the foundation and provided you have met the following criteria you will be eligible to enter the relevant Deakin College diploma course:
Deakin College's Foundation Program is a pathway into the first year of a selection of Deakin University Bachelor degrees.
Upon successful completion of a Diploma, that is, having passed eight units, all students are eligible for entry to a FULL-FEE paying place in second year of the relevant Deakin University undergraduate degree, provided they have met the academic progression criteria below.

The following criteria applies:
- completed and passed eight Deakin College Diploma of Commerce units
- a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 70% (distinction average), taking into
account all units attempted at Deakin College
